The fabulous wines of Jose Maria de Fonseca have a new home in the UK with Moreno Wine Importers.
Moreno Wines take on the JM Fonseca agency in June 2011. Fonseca are the largest private vineyard owner in Portugal and are great ambassadors for the Portuguese wine industry round the world through their Periquita and Setubal Moscatel brands.
Moreno are Iberian and Hispanic experts and have been looking for a Portuguese partner for some time. We have had strong contacts with Fonseca in the past through a couple of Moreno Directors and we are keen to restore Fonseca to the forefront of Portuguese trade in the UK.

Forth Wines told us they are delighted to have agreed an exclusive deal to represent Mouchão in the UK market. These fabulous wines are an excellent addition to our range and we shall be focusing primarily in the on-trade and the independent retail channels.
The quality of Mouchão and its baby brother “Dom Rafael” is fantastic. At the recent 50 Great Portuguese Wines tastings (as selected by Tom Cannavan) the Mouchão 2006 was one of the stars of the show, winning many fans.
We shall be following up on the tasting and to launch the products, we shall be running a promotion with Independent retailers offering tasting stock to encourage retailers to taste the wine with their customers.

ViniPortugal is pleased to announce the appointment of a new board presided by Jorge Monteiro former President of the Port and Douro Wines Institute.
Whilst thanking Francisco Borba for his efforts over the last 18 months, Jorge Monteiro said:

After much hype and anticipation, Tom Cannavan’s 50 Great Portuguese wines selection was finally unveiled in London on Monday 6th June at the Portuguese Ambassador’s Residence in Belgrave Square. We had two successful events in London and Edinburgh and we were also the first UK generic body to use QR codes at a tasting, it enabled visitors to download the tasting brochure, leave feedback and contact the producers direct.

Handford Wines, one of London’s top independent merchants, is celebrating the success of May’s Portuguese wine at their flagship South Kensington shop.
Over a decade ago Handford Wines was one of the UK merchants to buy and promote the top icon wines of Portugal. Now these wines are now firmly established amongst their fine wine consumers and demand is outstripping supply.
